Responsibility to Players

The AYSO volunteer position of coach is intended to develop in players a positive image of themselves, their teammates, coaches, game officials, and opponents, and provide a good role model for players.

Additionally, the coach will develop in his/her players the appropriate soccer skills as recommended in the AYSO coaching manuals.

The coach will create a safe, fun, and fair environment for the youth of our community. Coaching is an opportunity and not a right.

The commitment is for one season. The estimated hours to fulfill duties are approximately 6 hours per week during the season.

Positive Coaching

In AYSO, Positive Coaching is a fundamental philosophy because of the crucial role that a coach has. Coaching in AYSO is a chance to spend quality time with your own child AND be an important role model for all the children on your team. In fact, the joy of coaching is so meaningful, that many AYSO coaches continue coaching long after their own children have moved on from AYSO.

Your kids are the most important kids in the world. As a parent you want the absolute best for them -- so who better to make sure this happens than YOU! AYSO provides excellent training and support for all of its coaches so all kids in AYSO can have a world class soccer experience.

No Prior Soccer Experience Required!!

Soccer knowledge is a plus, but AYSO provides all of the training and materials you will need. No prior soccer experience is necessary for coaches.

In fact, many of our best coaches are not prior soccer players. Instead, they are great leaders who introduce their children to the game and allow them to learn to love it on their own!

The AYSO National Coaching Education program is designed for you! It is the best volunteer youth soccer coaching program around and is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Coaching Eduction.
