American Youth Soccer Organization Providing world class youth soccer programs that enrich children's lives.

Mt. Pleasant/Valhalla, NY AYSO (Region 221)

Core Registration

AYSO (24-25)

Our Core and Playground programs are the foundation for all the fun, excitement and learning that happens on the fields.

AYSO is best known for our Core program – it’s where the large majority of kids fall in love with soccer and make memories that will last a lifetime.

  • For Playground (3 and 4 year olds): Trainer led program with pods of 8-12 kids. 3 and 4 year olds not yet in kindergarten have different social and physical needs. To accommodate then, we have a 45 minute program with trainers. Parents are certainly encouraged to positively contribute to their child's experience as they learn basic movement and social skills.
  •
  • For 6U (5 years old / kindergarten): The 6U divisions will be a once a week hour run trainer run program. There will be pods of 12 kids working with one trainer for the first half hour and then split off into games for the last 30 minutes. We will still need a "team manager/parent volunteer" for each team to just help out with the scrimmage part.
  • For 7U (6 years old / first grade): Same format as 6U, just a different timeslot.
  • For 8U: The 8U division is a once a week, 90 minute program that will utilize the "Master Coach" program we have been using this current season. Parent coaches will still be needed but the trainers will be assisting in the process.
  • For 10U: The 10U division will have a Saturday practice (90 minutes) which utilizes the "Master Coach" model, a coach run practice (60 mins) during the week (Mon or Tues) and a game on Sunday afternoon (anywhere from 12-5pm).
  • For 12U: Parents coaches lead the practice and game activities.
  • For 14U: Parents coaches lead the practice and game activities.
  • For 18U: Parents coaches lead the practice and game activities.

Registration will be closing on Sunday August 25th so we can properly make teams.

In-Town vs. Travel
Because of the size of our program, we are generally able to provide in-town programs with only our own players from Kindergarten through Second Grade. As the kids get older and the teams get bigger it becomes necessary to play against other local Westchester AYSO programs like Armonk, Chappaqua, Pleasantville, Ossining, etc. From time to time we also play against non-AYSO programs like Yonkers.

Everyone Plays
Here in AYSO, Everyone Plays means that no kid spends their soccer experience sitting on the bench. Every kid plays at least half of every game.

Balanced Teams
Also, teams are put together in a way that makes playing soccer about the experience, not wins or losses. It’s not about blowing out another team with an unbelievable score; it’s about sportsmanship and learning to be the best possible team mate and opponent. Developing players is what we’re about, because soccer skills and life skills go hand in hand. AYSO’s main purpose is to get kids on the field, provide them with good coaches, and teach them to play soccer.

Core requires a lot of certified Coaches and Referee volunteers. In addition, our region is completely organized by a volunteer Board.
As usual we will need some parents to step up and help out. We are always looking for division coordinators whose job it is to help make teams and get communications out to the parents. It will be a lot less work now that practices will be handled by the trainers.
As you can imagine, running things requires a lot of teamwork and all help - large or small - is appreciated.

Core

Our core program is the foundation for all the fun, excitement and learning that happens on the fields.

AYSO is best known for our core program – it’s where the large majority of kids fall in love with soccer and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Kindergarten, First, and Second Grade: All programming occurs on Saturday morning.

Third through 12th Grade: Games are played on Sundays, with practices at the discretion of the coach. The most common practice times are Thursday night, Friday night and Saturday morning.

In-Town vs. Travel
Because of the size of our program, we are generally able to provide in-town programs with only our own players from Kindergarten through Fourth Grade. As the kids get older and the teams get bigger it becomes necessary to play against other Westchester AYSO cities like Armonk, Chappaqua, Pleasantville, Ossining, etc.
